Transparency Local Legislators in the SG/PRC Catchment Area
SG/PRC supports the role of community advocacy in maintaining and improving the Regional Center system. It is important that we embrace and emphasize the power of self-advocates, families, service providers, and other community members to collectively shape a better system of support.
Our continued partnership with our local elected representatives highlights the need for advocacy efforts and building relationships to ensure equitable access to services, adequate funding, and a system that truly empowers individuals with disabilities to live their best lives.
Get to know your local elected representatives…. Be an advocate!
- Write letters to the governor or your state legislators and share your personal stories.
- Contact your legislators in their home offices. Get to know them and make a commitment to keep in touch with them on a regular basis.
- Register to Vote, then exercise this right by voting at each election
- Attend or Join their local events and support their community efforts.
- Stay informed and sign up for their newsletters or email blasts.
