We invite our clients and the services that support them to utilize wheelchair accessible scales to assist clients with weight management. These scales are also available for all clients who need reliable weight measurement, not just those who are seated in a wheelchair. At the initial visit, it will be necessary to obtain the weight of the wheelchair without the client, and an attendant will be needed to assist with lifting the client to a stationary chair. Then the client and wheelchair will be weighed together. A record of these weights will be kept so that the client will not have to be removed from the wheelchair during future visits. The only time a wheelchair would have to be weighed separately again would be if additional equipment were added, or if the client receives a different wheelchair.

This following information is for using the wheelchair accessible scales located at Movement Unlimited and also at San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center:

Movement Unlimited - Please speak to Linda Wright and let her know when you are coming to access the scale (preferably a day ahead of time.) She is most easily reached after noon at (626) 359-4656. Vendors and clients can access the scale during normal business hours which are:

• Monday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Friday 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• The address is 120 East Lemon Ave, Monrovia, Calif.

San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center - The wheelchair scale is housed in the medical examining room in the Intake area. The scale is available to on-going clients according to the following schedule:

• Every Monday afternoon from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.,
• Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

When clients arrive at SG/PRC, they need to let the receptionist know that they are here to use the wheelchair scale. The receptionist will then alert someone in the Intake Unit to meet them and escort them to the scale. If more than five clients are planning to come to SG/PRC at one time to use the scale, please call at least one day ahead of time for an appointment.
